Cabbie tells of plum jobs and ’scraps’.

A cabbie claiming $100,000 damages for the way he says lucrative jobs are fed to a small number of favoured drivers says other drivers were left “fighting for the scraps”.

Three drivers from Hutt and City Taxis are suing the company, of which they are shareholders, in the High Court at Wellington, asking for damages and fair allocation of jobs.

Chandra Naidu said yesterday that company chairman Gerry Ryan was being “fed” well-paid jobs, along with a small pool of other drivers. “Everyone else is left fighting for the scraps.” Mr Naidu, who has degrees in computing and accountancy, became a company director in 2006 but said he resigned because of the way the company was run and that three of the five directors would not recognise the problem.

Two days after he became a director, he was rung and offered a job after he had logged off for the day. He questioned the practice and was not contacted again.

Mr Naidu said he worked 60 hours a week and became stressed because jobs were not shared equally and he was not earning what he should have been. Drivers should have had equal opportunity for good jobs under an automatic assignment system, but it was being over- ridden manually. The company’s lawyer has indicated the manual assignment of jobs can be explained.

Another driver taking the case said he did not know what lay behind the favouritism. “I could not say an agreement, but you are looking at a pattern of work going to certain cars,” Nelson Manak said.

The third driver claiming damages is Kamleshwar Singh.

there will be many more court cases in this industry in the near future..the big one is yet to hit!

Interesting subject>>>>>>>>>>>>even if the claims are true (I have no doubt they are) it would be a very, very difficult job coming up with hard evidence.

Facts: You do not need to manipulate the so called ‘dispatch system’ to feed drivers.

There are numerous ways in which you can ‘feed’ drivers’ whether via the dispatch system or by other means without getting caught. You do not even need to step foot into the office/call centre/tin shed to ‘feed drivers’ .

How to feed drivers and get away with it>>>>>>>that would need it’s own little blog!!!!!

But>>>>>>>>>refocusing on the dispatch ’system’ the ‘dispatcher’ may not even know>>>>>>>>that jobs are being ‘feed’ to drivers illegally>>>>>>whilst looking ‘legal begal’ >>>>>>>>>>unless the dispatcher happens to stumble upon (by pure accident) little tricks that aliens from outer space can play with the dispatch system from the comfort of their own little spaceships. Especially if those aliens are superior in status on thier elite little planet then you can bank on them having access that is denied to the normal human race, and they (the aliens) well advanced in knowledge with the dispatch sytem can do lots of wonders!!!!!!!!!!

Records will always leave a trail of what those in the position of power want to be seen! They’d be damn idiots and fools if they did leave any evidence that could incriminate them.

But with out a shadow of doubt>>>>>>>>>the majority of drivers know full well that those allegations are probably true. You can not tell me that those men would go thorugh all that trouble to make an allegation like that unless they think some how they can prove something, which I hope they can. Of course it will not surprise me if they come out looking like complete idiots and the tables are turned to make them look like the ones who were being feed.

The most exciting part of this saga for me is>>>>>>>>>>can they actually prove or produce any hard physical evidence that could result in a win, win situation for them. I hope for their sake they can. And for the sake of the drivers who are missing out on the ‘plum’ jobs and getting the scraps.

The company’s lawyer has indicated the manual assignment of jobs can be explained.>>>>I’m sure it will all be explained away!!!!!!!!!

feeding happens, anyone that claims it dont is dellusional. However I am not saying that it did or didnt happen in this case as I dont know,. nor really care
Some ways operators have been sprung over time.

-remove or place an attribute against your details as the big one comes in off the phone. place that attribute against the job. then put it all back together as it was before the big one came along.

    - call you directly on cellphone.
    - call you at home.
    - send the job to a new made up zone, but you receive it.
-just go to voice and give it to someone.

like I said it can happen. systems need to be in place to audit that jobs are being allocated correctly. easy to do – monitor a time-frame of calls recieved and monitor their dispatch – after the event of course. most responsbile companies audit their stock, dont they?

if these guys dont win what will become of them? ….have they bought the place into disrepute?

something to watch in the downtimes…I mean all the time.

how did it get this far? this should have been resolved way way before it got to this stage. no one will win in the end. i am not a driver in this company but its not a good look for either party!!!!!!!!

Time frame of calls are already monitored, but as DBFN said Aliens from outer space are too advanced in knowledge!!!!

  7. un-fed Says:

Comments for ‘fed in errors’ The winner at the end are the feeders and those being fed. The ‘losers are those like me who are hungry and un-fed!!!

  8. boss Says:

Funny how its only 3 out of 120+ drivers/contractors. if there was any truth to this then you think there would be alot more backing them up…strange that

  9. Anonymous Says:

The only ones that win are the lawyers,It will be costing both sides thousands.
Those three i have been told are shareholders, why didnt they just pack there bags and go elsewhere?
If they had support of other shareholders they could have dumped the board before it got this far.
    Too much caver!!

  10. anonymous 3 Says:

Boss) There are alternatives for meeting demand of bookings and how many drivers are out and about. Allocations used – when neccessary – are good. Underline ‘when neccessary’

As long as the use of allocations and who they are being allocated too – is fair. Otherwise the line between allocations and feeding disappears.

Mama Bear) Are the aliens the ones who monitor time frames of calls?

DBFN) I want to have a beer with you one day! What colour are the aliens you are talking about?

Anonymous1) Whens the big court case due to hit, it its not this one.

un-fed) Feeders will never die, its part of nature!

fed in errors) Do you know what you are talking about!!!!

  11. twunt Says:

Are the aliens like little green men by any chance?

  14. twit Says:

What’s the latest update with these drivers and Hutt and City. Can’t seem to get any info from anywhere. By any chance anyone know what their lawyers name is?

  15. another cabbi Says:

Looks like these three cabbi’s are working hard for the company and the cream is getting fed to the chosen ones. these three are idols. Hats of you three

  16. Gem Says:

To those that do not know, there is indeed Hard Evidence to back the Plantiff(s). There is paperwork to show jobs have been manually tampered with. Not only this, there is substantial evidence of fraudulent activity between dispatchers and Certain Drivers. I feel that the issue is not about the 3 guys walking away and going elsewhere. They are acting as the foundation or the fuel for the many many cabbies that cannot or do not have the power to stand up. This issue is not about money nor is it about the personal tiffs between certain individuals. This is not only opening the doors to investigations within Hutt and City Taxis it is also giving reason to look at other well established Cab Companies in New Zealand.

the drivers who complain on this blog must be unpopular in their company. i’m very popular in my company, loved by all drivers, and managers……. and i get fed very well.

It’s no over until the fat lady sings!

  19. another cabbi Says:

Hey, guys who are against these three should be ashamed as they are heros. I am sure they are well educated and understood the system so well that the found the wrong doing. I would like to know who these guys are… they know what they are doing and you people who are missing the system every day is not a sunday, a day or time would come where the facts will be exposed and where would those faces would be hidden

  20. Mikey Says:

Don’t get mad, get even. Drop the dispatcher some chocolate, giver her a wink, brighten up her day, and I’m sure they’ll return the favour.

  21. dbfn Says:

twat is da latest update about this situation?

    • Tyrekicker Says:

The latest here is that the dipsticks that took the case are licking their wounds and trying to raise funds to repay the company the thousands they now owe them to partly recompense the costs incurred. They were wrong.
